Curves & Concrete - Kitchen Concept

When I was asked to jump on board with the incredible Resi Homes to develop a kitchen concept for one of their amazing clients, I couldn’t have been more excited when I saw the brief…

The client wanted ultra minimalist, high luxe and a statement island bench that would make any jaw drop to the floor.

When a streamline and paired-back approach is desired it’s important to let the materials do the talking, and this kitchen concept does exactly that.

Creamy blonde wood tones warm the space, balanced by cool concrete floors and a refined, ultra chic limestone that drenches every surface - bench-top, splash-back and range-hood.

Brushed gold accents punctuate the palette, adding subtle glamour without stealing the spotlight. We’ve used handles very sparingly opting to keep upper cabinetry and drawers handleless, and pulls only on the floor to ceiling integrated cabinetry.

Every element is thoughtfully sleek and compact, expanding the sense of space and openness. We’ve even managed to hide the general plug outlets with pod plug points that have been integrated into the bench top!

At the heart of the design is a stunning curved stone island bench with a feature column post leg. The island doubles as a functional work space and dining table, blurring the line between utility and sculptural statement.

Off to the right behind the doors is the client's wine cellar. We’ve used black to match the appliances and add a sense of groundedness to the otherwise light and airy space.

In the middle of the kitchen is the walkway to the butlers and laundry where the heavy lifting of the utility functions will take place - washing, prepping and cleaning.

Ample storage means everything has a place.

Here, minimalism isn’t just an aesthetic - it’s an experience.

A huge thank you to Resi Homes for allowing Marx & Co to jump on board, as well as our talented drafter Carly Thorsen who cleverly documented this concept with brilliant elevations and realistic renders that has truly captured the vision of this kitchen design.
