Leaning Into Longevity With FR Trading House
FR Trading located in Fortitude Valley Brisbane.
I recently had the privilege of visiting the team at FR Trading House, a boutique agency representing a beautifully curated collection of interior and homeware brands.…
As I explored their range, I found myself in conversation with Suhanya, one of the owners, about what designers and customers are leaning into this season.
It was a refreshing exchange. Suhanya shared that there’s been a noticeable shift away from mass-produced pieces towards more bespoke, hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind designs.
And it makes complete sense.
In a world that often feels fast, disposable and ever-changing, there’s something grounding about choosing pieces with permanence—objects that hold meaning, tell a story and are made to last.
We laughed when Suhanya confessed she’s had the same towels for 16 years and they still look and feel incredible.
Honestly, I was a little jealous. There’s something so satisfying about that level of quality, but even more so, the idea that she still loves them enough to keep them in her daily routine.
That to me, is the true definition of great purchasing! I want that same confidence in all of my buying decisions.
Suhanya also noted an increased appetite for texture within interiors, paired with a growing curiosity in colour.
And I can absolutely see that too. This year, I’m noticing more colour coming through, but not always in bold, statement ways. Instead, it’s often introduced subtly - muted tones layered over foundational neutrals, creating spaces that feel rich, dimensional and quietly expressive.
We’re seeing a beautiful shift for interiors right now, and I love that there’s an undertone of meaningful materials at the forefront of this move.
