Experience Design: Brisbane’s Bisou Bisou

Bisou Bisou in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley feels like slipping into a production of seduction rather than a restaurant.

It’s moody, intimate and artful with a mix of interesting palette play….

Think floral fabrics, painted tiles, rich wood flooring, indulgent marbles, iron, brick, brass and fluted glass.

Colour selections are equally unexpected.

Burgundy and browns mixed with shades of blue and earthy olives. Terracottas, creams and greys.

Combined, they create a richness that holds you the moment you arrive.

Lighting feels ambient and flattering in that distinctly European way.

Plush seating is ever so inviting.

There’s a rhythm to the room. Little stages for conversation. It feels cosy, yet far from claustrophobic. There’s room to move and drink in the atmosphere.

My favourite space was the little outside area. With a full view of the inside dining room, you’re able to really soak up the mood in a quiet corner cocooned in greenery.

Bisou Bisou feels unexpected and not cookie cutter. It's a design you can enjoy without any other commitment other than being in it.

Sensory design is the best kind and I really enjoyed the creativity and ‘slow-down’ details of this space.

It felt alluring in all the right ways.
