Creating an easy & elegant TV console look

Styling up your TV console can be an instant way to create a stunning focal point in your living space.

I like the idea of creating one hero moment and then a few smaller moments either side - but really, there are no rules.

If you’re wanting to put together a simple yet sophisticated display, follow the steps below to help get you started…

And for a list of the products I’ve used to style my own TV console, scroll down a little further. Some of these items are associated with my Amazon Associate membership.

Step 1 - create a hero moment

Consoles often look really great with a centre piece but usually the TV takes priority in living spaces. Using a Samsung art TV is a great way to balance aesthetics and practicality. You can create a stunning feature without having a black box dominate your walls - and you can change out your art as often as you like giving you ample options to keep your console looking fresh and stylish.

Step 2 - Create 1-3 smaller moments

Depending on how long your TV console is, you can begin to create a couple of smaller moments in the middle of your console. Note if you want a truly minimalist feel, you can totally skip this step all together. I like to use books as they’re clean but still add a layer of sophistication. I’ve used two stacks on my console - one in a two stack and the other is a 3 stack so they’re mirrored to add balance but slightly different in height to add interest. I’ve popped a few different options in my product list below that go with this particular style and colour palette.

Step 3 - Create opposing, yet balanced moments at each end

To complete this TV console look, I’ve used an irregular shaped lamp to add in some lovely sculptural form, height and interest on one end of the console, and on the other end I’ve grouped a vase, pedestal bowl and a 3 stack of organic ceramic dip bowls together. These have a variety of matte and glazed textures, as well as a mixture of different shapes and sizes. They also somewhat match the weight of the lamp giving the overall console a balanced finish.

Lastly, don’t forget colour

All of my decor supports the same colour story, including the art on the TV which I change regularly.

When curating your pieces, keep colour in mind and remember the styling essentials of mixing up your materiality, incorporating lots of scale and shape, as well as white space and composition.

You can read a full breakdown of the basics here - How to effortlessly style a bookshelf. This blog was originally written for shelf styling but is transferrable across the board.

I hope this helps you give your TV console a bit of a glow-up! As I mentioned earlier, there are no rules so feel free to break away from the steps listed above and create your own combinations to curate a look that’s personalised just for you.
